Well.... it hasn't even been a year yet, and I know some can sympathize, but I've played the bullied in an hit and run.

During an act of a "Mother's Day good act" a car/truck, more likely a truck hit my car at a Home Depot and took off. Leaving me as I returned with a dent and a $750 repair bill.

Have you other MINI drivers found it hard to believe the smallest car in the parking lot, parked farrest away from others, only to return from anothers neglect???

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Some people just have absolutely no respect for others. That happened to me one time, fortunately not with the MINI but with my previous car. Some Suburban-like vehicle with a huge trailer hitch backed up right into my car and didn't even leave a note  Probably yakking away on their cell phone or they just didn't care. The funny thing was, when I parked my car I saw that hitch and thought "maybe I shouldn't park here" but I did anyway. Always trust your intuition

Best yet was, I was with my mother, she parked next to me, all the way in the back so she can pick the color of the room for me to paint. However, they found me, and left their mark, If only we lived in a world of trust. Accidents happen, but not to even compensate, it's wrong.

Sometimes they don't know they did it. I remember once someone gave my Ranger a good push, and I commented "that's why I never leave the truck in gear". He didn't know he did it at all.

When I had my 71 2002 I was living in an apartment complex and spent a whole weekend fixing an assortment of problems - radiator, bearings, brakes, water pump, etc, etc. I finished late Sunday night and went inside to wash my hands and take a load off for a minute before I took the car for a test drive. I couldn't have been in there more than 10 minutes when I heard the sound of one car smashing into another.

I raced outside and found that two morons in a suv had pushed one of my round taillights into my trunk I let it drop and the punks just took off, making it a hit and run.

AFAIK they never were caught, but insurance covered my damages, and their POS suv got it just as bad as my car.
