New Mini Owner Looking for a little help

Hi,
I just bought my first Mini Cooper & I need a little help getting a couple of non working components working again.
I bought a 2002 Mini Cooper S John Cooper edition, and I noticed the A/C works if you turn it on prior to starting the car, then after about 1 minute, it stops blowing. The A/C is on, but the blower fan stops. I read that it is the blower motor resistor, then I read some of the 2002 mini's have the resistor, and some don't have the resistor. I am going to include my cars vin number so that if there is a person out there that knows for a fact what exactly I need to replace on my car to fix the problem. I have the digital temp. Display in the center of the temp. Dial and auto, on the dials so I assume I have the autoair.
What is the correct fix for this issue? Anyone?
Thanks,
Gary

When you say Blower Motor, are you referring to the fan in the cabin that makes air flow through the vents?

What happens if you turn the temp dial to low, press the button for forward vents (auto light should turn off), push the "Plus" button several times to turn the fan speed up. If the "Snowflake" light is not lit up, press that button too. What happens, cold air coming from vents??

Reason I ask is because I never had climate control before, - and when the MINI's on auto and set to 70F degrees, my fan will slow down to almost nothing when the cabin is near the target temperature. You have to press other buttons for manual control to find out.

As far as your cooling fan (the one behind the radiator) -yes there were some differences in early years, and many were rewired at the dealer. I saw ZippyNH answer a thread with details about that not long ago. If you do a google search with "northamericanmotoring fan resistor ZippyNH" it may come up.

BTW -The cooling fan not coming on when AC is turned on could also be a symptom rather than a cause. It comes on when so many bars of pressure are present in the AC system, so if its low on gas, compressor not working, leak etc... It won't build pressure, won't get cold, and cooling fan won't one on either.

It's the A/C fan I am referring to. Apparently through a little research the (what mini calls it) the ;Blower motor resistor which is located up under the footwell somewhere, will go bad, it seems to be a giant fuse. But anyway, when it starts going bad the A/C will still be on and work properly, but with no fan. But I discovered that if I turn the car to the on position and then turn the air on it will work fine for a minute. Then it just stops working. I've waited several minutes for it to come back on, not happening.
But my problem is this now. I have located this part number : 64111499122 got the part, but I can't find a guide that show how to do the install. I seen on a parts diagram where it is supposed to go, but there is something I am missing. Or it is in a different location than the diagram shows. My car has auto A/C

If anyone can link me to the proper repair guide that would be great.
