Brake question

So #1 finally needs brakes. 53k, street/commuter driven, only planned mod is a 17% pulley in the future.

I want low dust, low noise pads. What is the best current suggestion?

Rotors- stock style or spring for slotted/drilled?

Hoses- upgrade to stainless?

What else do I need to get for a sensible rebuild? I know I need sensors and fluid, but what about bolts, bushings, etc

Thanks

I love my Hawk HPS pads on WMW coated rotors. The ATE or Zimmerman coated rotors would also be good. Assuming you have never flushed your fluid you could change to stainless hoses without much more effort and fully flush the system at the same time. As for parts, your pins and bushings are probably OK but you should look at them carefully and lubricate them when you put them back.

Be very, VERY careful when removing the rotor retaining screws. They are easy to mung making them difficult to impossible to remove. An impact screwdriver is, IMO, the only safe way to get them out. I have a set here just in case when I do my brakes. And be sure to put them back with liberal amounts of anti seize.

Just my opinion on what works for me. And I think you will find a whole bunch of opinions on pads and rotors.

Stock style rotors...centric premium seems to work great...
For OEM like performance, you can try akenebono ceramic pads....almost dustless....
Stainless steel lines....if you want to firm up the pedal or if the rubber lines look aged...
Just be sure to give the whole system a good flush....
Good bang for the buck, similar to OEM performance....
You can spend tons more....but can hurt performance/longevity...
Drilled rotors can crack..tend to be ok for street, but....
Slotted rotors can make extra noise...whirrr...and wear pads a bit faster...
Minimal gains other than looks in both cases...
Pads....many choices....but for a daily driver/commuter....a higher performance pad might be noisy and costly...and many do poorly on first use when cool/cold.....some can be noisy when used gently in a commuter situation....
So pick carefully....
Folks tend to reach up a level when they do not need too, and get the $$ in cost, but no real gain and some drawbacks....
So just be honest with if the current setup worked....
And if it has any issues.... Biggest for most is dust...
