R50/53 ouch!
ok so after 20,000 miles on my s and loving it i am now having back pain in the lumbar region. i have cloth sport seats without the lumbar adjustor ****. in retrospect although i did not want leather seats i would have liked to have the adjustment for the lumbar. a gross oversite of bmw in my opinion. an extra bit of money for better seats i would not have minded paying. anyone else experiencing this and does the adjustor **** make a big difference?

I've got 16,700 miles in 7 months and loving it too. My back is pain free. The lumbar support was the main reason I got Profile Leather, besides the cool little dimples. LOL
I think the **** makes a world of difference. Sorry to rub that in!

You need to adjust your seat, either forward or back, up or down.
You are using your back to push the gas, brake and clutch when you should be using your legs, knees, etc....
I have the sport seats with the leatherette and they do not adjust. I found that when I had the seat too far back, I was reaching for the clutch and brake. I am very short (5'2"
so I had the seat jacked up so I could see out.
I took a trip to New Orleans and after about 7 hours in the car I was about to die! I then moved the seat forward and I adjusted it down a few knotches and I've been going great and that was 5 months ago!

well thanks for your opinions. the next to do will be to check out a car with the lumbar support **** and see if this takes care of it. and then if it makes a difference find out if anyone is selling their seats... bummer :???:
it's weird because they have been just fine and now i can't seem to get the support i need and there just isn't enough adjustment to corrrect it.

hey pebbles, thanks. i will play around with it some more. i think that i may have changed the positoning when i loaded the car. i just came back from a drive from the southwest up to canada and back. i was just fine on the way up and then i think the seat was moved when loading the car. good tip...

Not really. I have the leatherette sports seats in my MCS and have not experienced any problems in terms of comfort and body fit.
I have had cars before with manual lumbar supports and found these mostly useless, creating a pretty uncomfortable buldge in my lower back area.
I am glad that my MCS sports seats did not come with the pesky lumbar adjustment.

My MCS is my 3rd car with lumber adjustment, and IMO none of them have been worth a pricing premium. Having a vertical adjustment, while adding substantially to the price, would make the lumbar support almost as good as an aftermarket pillow or cushion.
