Tow Hooks: Dumb? Cool? Indifferent?

tow hooks. see em on some cars, not on others.

are they too "ricer"? seems like quite a few minis have them. they kind of remind me of a nose piercing; looks good on some people, but always reminds me of a shiny pimple...

if i did put one on, it would prolly never get "used" as a tow hook; but would rather be just something to "look at" i guess.

so, whats your vote? Cool! or dumb

One warning...
If you have a tow-hook attached, and have an accident, the amount of dammage to your car tends to be more....Due to the fact the towhooks are screwed into some VERY SOLID metal...

I keep mine installed all the time. The one time I needed it I couldn't find it. The flat bed driver made me sign a waver saying if he damaged my car too bad.... He didn't but now I know where it is if I need it.

People really need to stop using this term for everything. The stock tow hook is doing the job it's supposed to, but it's not good looking.

As for the damage discussion, if you hit hard enough to bend the font support where the tow hook is, chances are that it won't matter that much as the whole front end will be messed up from the impact.

For someone who's doing a lot of track, it can be useful to have it all the time and not having to worry to get it out, then install it. A nice looking and functionnal tow hook is a decent exterior mod. I'm more a function over style type of person, so I wouldn't put one just for the look if I never take the car to the track, BUT, I won't mind it.

We have OEM hooks painted Chili Red and installed front and rear, but then again, TRACKRAT is just that. Any off-track "excursions" require quick response by course workers. Thankfully, we've never needed them.
