Buying a 2006 S

I very interested in this mini but is there anything major I should be checking for. The car has a little over 120k. The clutch feels good but the dealer doesn't know if it was replaced which concerns me since I've seen estimate replacement costs. I read up on the superchargers and some say that you should rebuild or replace them with new around 80k. This one doesnt seem to make noise but I don't have any other mini to compare. Everything seems real good. Decent tread on tires, interiors clean except wear on drivers seat, no rust, brakes good, all electronics work, no mil light. I currently have a vw so I'm use to the work these types of cars take. Ik I'm not buying a honda civic but want to make sure I'm getting a good deal. Price is a little over $8500 with tags and tax. I'm already looking at mods, so far I want the 15% supercharger pulley and I want to remove the resonator from the exhaust.

Well, to begin with, the 05-06 are pretty much the best first gen to get. Better gear ratios, interior changes, et. Minis have common problems like the power steering pump, crank sensor seal leaking, overflow tank, upper motor mount (leaking oil). So if you can see the service sheet as to what was done in the past, it will give you a good idea of what to keep an eye on. The main thing with s/c is the seal on the pto side (driver side) that fails and the oil for the waterpump gear get sucked in and both gear turns canibals. If it's not making any funny noises, I wouldn't be concerned. You can't go wrong with the 15% s/c pulley, it will change the car and the one-ball mod (removing the resonator) will give you a bit more sound and louder ''backfires''.

I bought my 06 MCS this past April after having a 09 MCS less than a year before. I love the 06, feels just a little smaller which is fine, no problems currently and shares driving days with my H3 Hummer. My cars change with my moods, so I might as well have a couple on hand to drive. Less miles added for each and less wear and tear. Plan to be keepers for many years to come. I think you will be happy with the 06 MCS.
