R50/53 Hand brake separate from disc brakes?

The handbrake connects to the rear brake caliper which then puts a hold on the disc brakes.
Here is the kit for the cables, #8 and #9 in the diagram.

It uses the disc brakes. Like many other cars, the piston in the rear caliper have a threaded shaft in the middle, so when you use the handbrake, it pushes the piston against the brake pad by moving the shaft. When you brake, it uses the brake fluid to push it.
