Dave sorry about your troubles. I have had only 2 minor problems:
1) Rear hatch release would get stuck open so it would not latch..... new latch installed after 2 trips to dealer solved problem
2) Slight coolant leak .... after searching this sight thought, it was the coolant bottle but after having it replaced 4 times it turns out it was the waterpump seal.
All cars have there problems, my daily drivers over the last 4 years have given me twicw as many problems:
00 Grand Cherokee .... needed rear dif bearing replaced twice
02 Ford Exployer .... needed abs sensors replaced 3 times, left me stranded because of a failed wheel bearing
03 Ford Exployer ... need parking sensor replaced, will need new wheel bearing soon
Granted I drive my company cars a lot more than my Mini for the most part my Mini's quality has been pretty good. (fingers crossed & knocking on wood)
