R50/53 Summer savior; Arctic Freeze
Summer savior; Arctic Freeze
I have got to tell you my story. I went out to my MINI yesterday and it was 112 degrees
My interior thermometer read over 140. I got in and turned on my A/C. After 20 minutes of freeway driving, in 4th gear to keep the RPMs up and the air blowing as cold as possible, my A/C got down to 60 degrees. I had had enough!
I remembered hearing about Arctic Freeze a couple years ago from the Mercedes dealer. So I researched it and saw where it was made for NASA by the Aerospace Research Laboratory (where I use to work but not when they were working on it). This made it a no brainier on which product I was going to use. If its good enough for NASA it's good enough for my MINI. So I grabbed a can and into the garage I went. I followed the instructions and even went a step farther and would disconnect the gauge and then reconnect the gauge just to make sure I was getting a good reading. I got in the MINI and read the thermometer, 80 degrees

Well what would cause that
Over charge I thought, so I grabbed a Allan head wrench and poked the valve not knowing what would happen for sure, I covered it with a rag to catch the spray. I checked the thermometer again and it was going down. A few pokes later and it was in the 40 degree range.
So I jump in the car and head across town to a meeting. The outside temperature is now 111 degrees, a huge change from 112 from 30 minutes ago
2 minutes on the road and the thermometer is reading 45. I'm a happy camper! 5 minutes on the road and now it is reading between 37-38 degrees
