R50/53 road tar HELP
Had to dodge the truck that sprays tar, road crack and small pot hole filler ,I was going 60 MPH ,got down to about 35 MPH ,but my rear view mirror filled up with a beater
1/2 ton who was not slowing down (probably sees the tar as free rust hole filler)so I ended up getting tar on the black trim  non on the paint

I don’t know that there is a best product for tar removal. 3M Tar & Grease Remover (#39987) is my favorite, but many of the other tar removers are quite good, as is plain old kerosene.
The sooner that you deal with it the better. Try to keep it off of the paint as much as possible. Instead of spraying it on I saturate a small (3”-4”) square of cotton toweling with the remover and thoroughly wet the tar areas. Wipe off with clean terry toweling using minimum pressure. Repeat as needed. Then wash with your regular car shampoo and wipe down with 303 Aerospace Protectant.

I've had good luck with WD40. But like Nick_T, I immediately wash the trim and put on a coat of Vinylex or Back-to-Black.
Also, don't forget to check the front grilles and the top surface of your intercooler. You'd be amazed what can get stuck in those areas!
