stock 2003 cooper S exhaust pipe size?

Gonna do a custom straight pipe (kinda like the one ball mod but instead im going to put a borla race muffler there and take both mufflers off) so I keep hearing its 2 1/4 but sometimes I hear 2 1/2 which is it???

It is 2 1/4".

2 1/2" is what is found on almost all cat back exhaust systems for your MINI.

so If I was to add a new muffler on the inlet would need to be 2 1/4?
