No, it's not normal. Let them know and they will replace it. It should fit snugly.

I just received mine and its the same way, it basically just lays on top of the tube without any resistance.

I'm not near my car to check, but isn't there supposed to be a little rubber ring around it? Does your have the ring? Can someone confirm that there is supposed to be a rubber ring?
Craven will replace them if they aren't right.

The one pic is from cravenspeed website and the other is what I received. You can clearly tell its a different design which is probably why it doesn't fit snug.

Yes, the o-ring is the problem. They put the 10 cent one on them instead of the 15 cent one. I bought 3 of the f___ers and they are all the same. I'm a little more than a little disappointed.

Don't worry, Craven will replace them. Just let them know. They stand by their products.

Joanie, does your dipstick look like mine or the one on cravenspeed site?

It appears that the o-ring is the wrong size.

They may just ship you all new o-rings as they are easy to install.

Oh, quality control is not included when things are so pricey . . . . . . . . .

Good morning, NAM. Sounds like we ran into a problem over the weekend. Well, the solution is already in place, so fear not.

Almost all of the dipsticks for this group buy were assembled just last week as quickly as possible to get them out to you. It looks like the one's that were made last week were made with the wrong o-ring. Not a cheap one, not the one out of the wrong bin (we are better organized than that). We got sent the wrong size, then we went ahead and sent you the wrong size. Either way, I know it is our fault, and we apologize. Here is how we are going to fix it;

http://www.cravenspeed.com/dipstick-o-ring/

Follow the link, put the free part in your cart, and checkout for free. We'll have the correct sized o-rings here tomorrow and we'll send them right back out as soon as we can.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, I am sorry about the error.

-=Kellen

Sucks that they sent you the wrong part and you subsequently assembled with the wrong part. Glad you are making it right though. Great job Craven Speed!!!

is this O ring issue with ALL dipsticks, or just the R56, or just the R53s?

I received mine last week (among the first to receive from the group buy) and mine fits great, nice and snug. I think it was only the ones that had to be assembled during this group buy that had the issue as the ones that were already in stock (mine) had the correct o-ring installed previously.

Just R56, and not everyone's. If yours fits well then you do not need to make any change. Only the one's that were most recently assembled have an installed OD of .375 instead of .4, some of you have or will receive properly fitting units.

We've been doing some test fitting today and found that if you carefully remove the oring from the stock dipstick it will work on the Craven dipstick.

We are holding all the R56 dipstick orders from the weekend till we get the correct orings on them and will ship asap once the correct rings are in place.

I'd bet it might if you could get it off and on the new stick without breaking it. If it has been around for a while, it may be a little brittle and break even carefully peeling it out of the old stick landing. Or it might stretch and be too tight to fit in the tube.

The o ring on the original dipstick does fit on the Cravenspeed. I just tried it. I'm going to get new o ring though because the old one IS old and tired.

For as many as have been ordered and add the error with the O ring...

Plus a lot of the other group buys have at this level.

So one would certainly hope so

I just placed my order using the link above. Free part/free shipping (and that was to an overseas military APO address). I would definitely send a PM or an email about the shipping charge.

Unfortunate error with the o-ring, but it happens. Thanks for making it right though. Great customer service.
