R50/53 Group buy on cravenspeed dipstick?
Thanks WMW for such fast processing
To everyone who is ordering:
Don't be surprised when the little box shows up in a padded envelope.

It comes coiled up, at least the Gen 2 does.
And make sure to let some of your MINI friends and fellow club members pull it out of the channel, in person. The look on their faces is great!

I have hands as tough as whip leather. Had no problem with it burning me. Seriously though, use gloves or a nice thick oil dipstick checking rag.
At a gas station, I use a folded windshield washer paper towel, and another one to wipe the oil from the stick.
It's hot, but it's not red hot or anything.

I received mine last night, quality product although I have to say it's extremely difficult to read when you have new oil in. Would be great if it had a redish tint to it like the stock one does. Oh well, at least I don't have to worry about it breaking. I think I'll keep the stock one around for when I do oil changes so I can check the new oil easier.
Mine showed up yesterday. Works extremely well. I just changed my oil and this dipstick is as precise and easy to read as I hoped it would be. Well worth the money! Thanks to Way and Cravenspeed for the added incentive.

Thanks, yeah I did the paper towel method at first, worked decent. I also tried holding it horizontally until it drooped but the oil is just so clear it's really hard to read. I'll just use the stock one when I change the oil and revert to the new one once it darkens. Kind of disappointing but it is a very nice piece. It would be great if they would anodize the tip of it to a color like the stock piece.

I was frustrated when I used the stock stick, and I finally figured out that the dealer had overfilled the oil, so it all looked the same. That can happen with the Craven one too. You won't see a gap at all if it is overfilled.I ended up draining out about half a quart and then I could read it on the stick, because it was where it should be.
You should be able to see even the cleanest oil as it lays in the notches. If it looks like the whole stick is covered with oil up to the part where it widens, then your oil might be a bit too full. So try looking closely at the notches to see the oil puddling there.

I'm confident that as the oil gets darker it will be easier to read but in the meantime it is a bit frustrating. I'll just keep the stocker around for when I do oil changes. On a good note it sure does slide much easier than the stock one.
Thanks for the heads up but unfortunately that isn't the case with mine. It's actually just under the full level (determined by using a paper towel) both on the Craven and the stock one. It's just extremely hard to read against the color of the metal since it blends with the color of new oil.

Haha, I don't know if that's such a good thing. Yeah, I have an S.
