R50/53 Cravenspeed 15% reduction pulley Review!!!
Cravenspeed 15% reduction pulley Review!!!
Today i drove to LA and had Minicorsa install my reduction pulley. I had not really seen any performance reviews on a stock car that only had the pulley so here it is.(I am decently proficent at shifting and launching.) I did a few 0-60 runs before and after. STOCK car i managed a 7.5sec 0-60 average
After pulley installation I managed a 6.5sec 0-60 average
thats more like it. From all the statistics I've seen these seem pretty fair.
Overall i noticed the power starts to come on around 3,100 RPM in the Stock car. With the pulley it came on around 2,500 Rpm just as hard as it used too at 3,100. On the drive back i noticed that with the Ac on full and my 250 LB father in the car, it felt simular to stock power with the ac off and no dad. Theres a noticeable torque diffrence and the tires break lose with less effort.
You also get through the gears quicker. The tall first gear no longer feels so tall. No waiting forever for redline to come. When the RPMs rise the car no longer feels draggy or gives you a sense of struggle. It picks up better, and drives better. I can pass on the freeway with ease now without feeling like the car doesn't want too.
I Highly recommend this upgrade to anyone who has a Mini S. If you only ever do one this do this. Even if you could care less about performance this seems to make driving less stressful and you feel safer knowing you have the power to pass that semi truck before your offramp comes up.

Oh and i did forget to mention the price. My local mechanic wanted $540 dollars. NO way!!!!! I payed $188 dollars for the craven pulley ngk colder spark plugs and new serpentine belt all shipped to my home in CA. $250 for an 50 min installation from minicorsa thanks guys!!!
Cool! I just got a 16% pulley installed on my stock '05 a couple weeks ago, love it. Just curious: did you notice the change immediately, or did your car have to adjust a little? I ask only because when I had it installed, it took about half an hour and resetting the ecu before it really picked up and made a big difference.
Interesting that you say first gear is tall. I always thought 1st was a little short. The gap between 1st and 2nd is pretty big, making fast shifts a little tricky sometimes. I hardly ever bother going WOT in 1st, it's over way to quickly

I was told the same thing a few hundred miles before my ecu would ajust too the pulley it felt a little diffrent right away but i cant really say because i drove 150 miles on the freeway back so by tht time it already had ajusted.
