Have a 03' r53 with auto adjusting hid's. Since I bought it everything has been good except the hid's. Just wondering if you all have any expert advice in regards to aftermarket hid's vs the original Mini supplied from the dealership. Which are better? Can I buy the EXACT same bulb from a different store for a cheaper price? Any thoughts would be much appreciated. And if you think its ballast let me know that as well.

 

I had a buddy buy ebay HID bulbs for his rx8 to replace the OEM ones and they are still working after 2 years, they are much cheaper. I know its not a mini but just thought I's throw it out there.

 

thanks appreciate the info just wondering if they'll be equivalent in quality as opposed to walking into the mini store and having them install new ones but thanks thats good info i will try. Maybe i will be the first

$15.00 a pair, mine have lasted me 3 years already.

(It's been rumored the local Mini dealer gets their's from them & just marks them up, don't know if it's true or not.)
