motor replacement left 1 me with 1 unattached wire
Hello, been a member without much to say, but have been grateful for the info here. I now have a question I hope you can help me with. I'll start with what happened.
Bad motor on '05 R53 replaced with '04 motor. Install went smoothly til hooking up starter. I've searched and found that there are 2 wires that are supposed to go to the large 13mm terminal on the starter. The images Ive found however, show two loomed wires coming from opposite directions. Mine has 1 loomed, 1 smooth shiny"ish" covering. Both come from the driver side of the engine (loomed from the Battery box by intake and around to the back of the starter, and smooth from the engine harness at top of transmission around to back of starter.
With both attached I get nothing but sparks from battery If I detach the smooth one and only attach the loomed wire to the starter everything works fine. Brad, aka JBKone has been helping me and we both feel it SHOULD go to that termninal with the battery lead but, with what happens that means there is something not right at the other end of the smooth covered wire. It acts as if it's a ground.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
JP
