R50/53 NOT A GOOD DAY!
I just took delivery of my MCS last week. What a car! I've enjoyed every minute behind the wheel. I even look forward to going to work. This morning I was swinging my HD out on its stand to go to breakfast with my wife, future son-in-law and my daughter when one of the casters of the stand got caught in the center seam of the garage floor. This caused me to adjust the angle the bike was coming out and RRRRIIIIIIPPPP - A 3" gash made by the exhaust pipe of the Roadglide just below the headlight on the passenger side! I almost puked
Not much else to do but take it to the body shop on Monday and see what they can do with it. It's on the vertical plane so it isn't really noticable unless you're looking for it. That doesn't matter though, it has to be fixed 'cause I know it's there....
Better days ahead.

Dude, that sucks big style. I feel for you. The first dent is always the hardest....... My MCS is only 7 weeks old, and its going to kill me when someone dings it in the parking lot, etc. Or heaven's forbid, one of the kids drops their scooter on it in the garage.
No one could be more obsessive and paranoid as me about dings or worse. I really feel for you, roadglide. One of the things I like best about the Mini's lines is that the sides are rounded, much like old cars used to be. But they also have no molding (which imo would look tacky) and seem so vulnerable to careless airheads.
Well, speedy fix up. At least you know it can be fixed to look good again.

I am the same way here. I get extremely annoyed at the sight of dings and dents.
Best of luck with your repair....we all feel your pain.

This story may help you feel some what better. Last year my son in law borrowed his friends high dollar mountain bike to go riding up around Lake Tahoe.
He mounts the bike on the top of his car in the bike rack. So far so good. He and the daughter procede to go on a nice weekend ride and camping trip.
While in Tahoe, they decide to park in a parking garage. He forgets the bike on top and promptly rips the bike right off the top as he drives into the garage. He said he seen the low clearance sign, but didn't think nothing of it because he was in his car and had all kinds of room.
He forgot the bike was on the roof. So....the bike is kinda bent up ( a $1000 mountain bike, heck I didn't even know bikes cost that much)
The top of his Honda Accord had a major pock mark and a huge dent. I think he just paid his friend for the bike and had it fixed, and spent quite abit fixing the top of his car. This was one expensive trip. :???:

roadglide,
Ugh, Sorry to hear about this mishap. Accidents happen.
I hope you can get a good fix for this. If I had this I would do the repair and add aero side skirts and paint the wheel arches at the same time. Maybe add some front and or rear mudguards.
Looking forward to a few better days for you too.

Thanks to all for your regrets. It's appreciated and yes, I do feel better. I believe this is basecoat / clearcoat. Since the gouge is just below the headlight, I think I'm going to have the guy see if he can just mask off a few inches either side of it, fill and sand, and then shoot color. After that, pull the mask, feather in clearcoat, then wet sand. The gouge is where I think that can be gotten away with....
We'll see

I saw a guy rip two bikes off the roof of a new VW Bettle the same way.
Bikes can cost way more than $1,000. Friends of mine put four bikes on top of a brand new fully loaded Excursion and one of them said, "It's a shame those bikes cost more than that Ford".

I think that generally MINI owners do not take these kinds of things very well......I sure don't. Best of luck on repairs!
