R50/53 Who has avoided an Automatic Car Wash? How long?

>>I'm 60 years old and own five cars which I still wash and wax myself. Hard to believe someone would take a Kia through an auto car wash, let alone a MINI!

I'm guessing you belong in the "Nutter" category.....kidding....JUST kidding......whatever floats your boat is fine with most of us.......except of course the nutters......

Car enthusiasts enjoy washing/waxing cars because it connects you more to it. Sort of like mowing your own lawn if you are into landscaping.
My company car Taurus is always run through a automatic car wash. Who cares? It's an appliance.

Car is 9 months old, hand-washed only (except for one time I tried a touchless system - it didn't work well).
Last winter I would take a bucket of hot water and a few towels into the garage. I'd soak the towels in the bucket, then clean the car with them, getting the dirt and salt off. Then I'd use detail spray to shine it up.

Maybe some of you folks who have never hand washed a car need to give it a try.
It's easy, provides a little exercise and a sense of accomplishment when you view the results. Also, you'll appreciate the tough life us old people had back in the dark ages when we actually had to do physical stuff that didn't involve going to the gym.
Apparently I look at this a "nutter" way from some on this board.
That's OK.

I'm very enthusiastic about eating great steaks, but I'm not interested in slaughtering a cow.

That depends on if the cow was hand or machined washed first
As for me, I only hand wash my cars, and I prefer to cook my own steaks.

I've had my MCS since Nov. 2003 - no automatic car wash! Both my MCS and my wife's 4Runner are only hand washed. It's very rare that it is cold enough in Upstate SC to cause problems washing
