I am EXTREMELY UNHAPPY with my MINI...cuz of why???? CUZ its GREEN that's why.....they really need to stop making these ugly things......other than the terrible color and the fact that it won't run and won't let me pick up babes......it's been no problem.....except for the fact that the GREEN PAINT keeps coming off and I have to slop it back on.....WHY O WHY did I buy a BRG MINI!!!!
>>I like this idea.
>>
>>I have an'03 MCS, bought 10/02 in NY from Westchester MINI....great out-of-state buying experience, no hassles on price and no extras required. An ideal buying experience....and a great road trip to break it in....
>>
>>Problems to date: minor stuff....a couple of creaks and rattles from the plastic interior pieces. a steering column replaced when I mentioned the creaking sound it started to make at about 15000 miles. I now have 16000 miles on the car, still love it...
>>
>>Other dealers visited: Desert MINI in Las vegas for the 10000 mile service. They couldn't hear the weird note the AC compressor makes when it's over 100 degrees outside....
>>
>>Assael MINI in Monrovia for the JCW kit at 12000 miles. They actually beat the price other dealers wanted for the instalation....no markup on the kit, though they do mark their cars up a staggering amount...prompt and effiicient installation process, free rental car...
>>
>>Long Beach MINI for the above steering column thing, plus a bent door fixed at the body shop. They fixed the door panel perfectly but the window rattled when I got it home, so they tried again, seemed to get it but it came back. I fixed it myself by changing the alignment of the up-and-down window track with the bolt at the bottom of the door....no rental car, gotta get that on my ins. policy quick.....
>>
>>Am I happy? you bet. Nothing that has happened has stranded me, and I don't believe any car is immune to problems. Engineering isn't an exact science....some designs don't hold up.
>>
>>So far I'm a believer....
>>
>>Every so often I sort of pinch myself, and look at my car, and think, hey, I'm driving one of the coolest cars on the road, and never feel worried about it breaking. What more could you ask?

Great topic...1200 mi on my 04 MCS built JAN 04 purchased MAR 04 from Vista MINI in South Florida. So far 0 problems. I understand peoples frustration with problematic cars, but in the year I've been reading this board the negativity has really increased. I'd like to see more enjoyable, positive posts from people who really like their MINI. If I want to be depressed I'll watch the evening news!

2002 June arrival, over 41,000 miles since then, with no major problems and only 2 or 3 minor ones, except the windshield was replaced after about 27,000 miles. It was fairly pitted, and the crack was of questionable origin, so no real complaint on that issue other than wishing MINI windshields were of a higher quality. Sales and Service has been excellent, always at Long Beach MINI, BTW, so I was glad to buy a 2003 'S' for me and my son there as well.
The 'S' has also been without any major problems as of 15,000 miles, or even minor ones. The windshield did take a good sized road debris hit, recently however, and has a crack, but it was a NASTY hit, and I don't think any car would have come off unscathed. Both MINIs have been hit by other cars, sadly, the 'S' being rear-ended last year while stopped in traffic, and the Cooper was sideswiped just recently. Both MINIs survived quite well, being sturdy little machines, and were fixed good -as-new by a local shop.
The overall fit and finish is excellent, IMHO, especially when compared to other small cars. Both still run like a top, go like stink, and eat up the twisties. I'm VERY happy we have them both.

Well this may sound boring...you'd really have to read way between the lines...but my Cooper is fantastic...no problems...great interaction w/ dealer....love to drive it....sit in it...wash it....got a software upgrade....still fantastic. Its impossible to describe the thrill this little car puts into simple commuting and running errands. I mean it...its impossible.
oh...1/2003 build, 16K miles, drive it every day

Jan '03 build, Mar '03 delivery
MINI North Scottsdale
23,500 miles (give or take a few)
millions of happy goofy grins

Still grinnin' from ear 2 ear when I drive; still hand washing and waxing my baby with fairly regular frequency; still driving like I stole her every chance I get!
A few minor problems/annoyances. All liveable for a while until serviced. Most I wouldn't have bothered with on any other car.
BTW, I started a thread like this a few months ago; it died after a couple of pages... I hope this one doesn't do the same. Maybe a moderator should sticky this post? Just a thought...

I'm happy with mine; out of 5 cars it's still my preferred daily driver. Problems in the 2000 mile I now have? Closing the boot takes some care, and there is an occasional creak every once in a while. It's a great little car, gets good mileage and has tons of character......................mgg

Ours is a 12/03 build MCS. 7000 miles and change so far.
Bought from Classic MINI in OH
Serviced at Rasmussen in OR
Both dealerships have been great, and the car is incredible. There is nothing else out there with 4 useable seats at a reasonable price that can touch it. Unless I win the lottery I think I'll be happy with this ride for a long while.

March 03 build date, delivery May 03 5600 miles todate, Selling dealer MINI of Hawaii and the servicing dealer will now be Jackie Cooper MINI of Okla City.
I baby this car way to much, and really just need to put more miles on it, but it seems so special I don't want to rack up a bunch of miles as I would like to hang on to this MINI for a long time to come.
I tend to buy new cars and when the new wears off, sell it and get something else. But this MCS is different. So far no problems, a real kick to drive and looking forward to this weekend to put a few more miles Little Chili

03 MCS, built 04/03, Princeton MINI, 22,000
03 MCS, built 10/03, bought used with 7000, now 18,000
33,000 MINI miles since June 21, 2003!!!!
No major problems, a few minor, resolved with relative ease. Princeton isn't great, but they've done O.K. by me. Heck, I'm one of the lucky owners with a conveniently located dealership!
I still love my MINIs!

Once again, I say everyone should take photos of the cracks and show where they start. If you get a lot starting, for example, right at the end of the VIN plate on the dash it will show MINI that they start there not end there. You need to do this to show them not just complain about them.

I think we have to remember that only a small but vocal fraction of MINI owners are on any MINI site.
Some are here to complain and others are here to exchange information, offer support and meet other owners.
Prospective owners can ask questions and get some real answers.

2003 MCS 10/02 build Bought in Feb 03 Now with Happy 13,000 miles.
MINI of Hawaii!!
Rating:
Sales- Excellent
Service- I've had my ups and downs but right now my MINI is doing OK. I think I will leave it alone.
This is really no different than other dealerships I have had to work with.
Overall-
This is definitely the most fun on four wheels one can have. Good or bad I am not turning back.
No more driving boring cars. I am on the earth to drive a MINI. Period.
