I'm looking at putting a deposit down on a Cooper S very soon. I am in Utah and Mini of Murray says their wait is about a year. The next closest dealerships that I'd be willing to deal with would be in Colorado or Las Vegas. Does anyone know what the wait time is at these two dealers? Also, what is the average wait time for a Cooper S? What should I expect?

The prices and average wait times vary from region to region and from dealer to dealer.
Some charge MSRP and have 10 to 14 month wait times on the west coast while others in the same area have $3000 markups and have MINIs in stock.

Check out Classic MINI (NAM sponsor) as you investigate your options. They are competitive, as are MINI of the Hamptons.

Good luck.

Group buy with Classic going on. You should seriously consider it if you're looking to get an MCS really soon. This is for June production, July delivery. So 3 month wait from now, which is not that long compared to the year long wait some folks had to deal with.

I want a Mini Cooper S 2005 by the way. The last time I checked with Mini of Murray in Salt Lake, they said it would be a November/December build. They said that in March so it's about a 9 month waiting. Just wondering if anyone has had any dealings with dealerships in Colorado or maybe even the northwest area.

I just went through the same ordeal, though from SF not Utah. Here are the results of my calls. (The short of it is that every dealer in the Western U.S. either has a 10-12 month wait list or charges $2-$3k over invoice.)

I ended up going with Classic's group buy -- join in and you'll have your Mini by July!

Contact Julie at Classic if you have any questions. (Or feel free to PM me.)
