Is your MCS (or MC) a bug magnet? I had a truck before and it seems that my MCS attracts bugs like no other. My front end and windshield are covered by the end of the week. Anyone know of a way to keep them from sticking so much? I am going to Zaino my MCS this weekend and hopefully that will help the front end. Any suggestion for the windshield? Thanks!

Jason

I just wax my windshiled with the same wax I use on the car. They wipe off really easy.

Yeah, it is a bug magnet. I think it has something to do with the relatively brick-like shape of the car. The front end and windshield are both fairly vertical.

I use Rain-X on my windshield. In addition to doing a fantastic job of repelling water, it also prevents bugs from sticking to the surface.

When I have a particularly sticky bug splat on the paint, I use a small amount of Simple Green. I know there are some products out there specifically made to remove bugs and tar, but I've never tried any. Simple Green does the job well enough.

The worst is the front bumper.. esp with the aero grills..if you leave it too long, or hit a large enough bug, it will actaully dent or chip the paint a tad... and they get all stuck in the little holes.

nothing the touch up pen cant fix, but a sure pain.

Yes MINI=bug magnet.
Maybe invisishield might help make clean up easier.
To scare away the little bugs apply a bunch of these to your bonnet-

All cars driven in Florida highways are instant bug magnets.

This is what I do:

1. Never drive at night.
2. Lots of wax on the bonnet
3. Rain X on the windscreen
4. Detail car and leave in Garage most of the time, that way your MINI always stays new

Of course it is a bug magnet.

If you read the June 2002 issue of Playboy where the MCS had a centerfold type fold out the said:

Turn-ons: "Hairpins, S-aturns, switchbacks, on-ramps, off-ramps, traffic circles, spiral parking ramps and British accents."

Turn-offs: "Those severe tire damage things."

Special talents: "Motoring down the highway and controlling the insect population."

I feel so sorry for your poor MINI! Sure it's well taken care of, but leaving it in the garage so much and not letting it go out and have fun at night must make it sad

It's only the suicidal bugs that end up on the front
bumper and windscreen. The MINI brings out the
emotions in many of us, bugs included. Poor things.
Best way to keep the bugs offthe front end of
your MINI is to drive backwards. Tough at first...

Dogspeed.

I took my mom for a drive in my MINI friday night, when a particularly large bug splattered his innards on my windshield. My mom looks at it and says "well he won't have the guts to do THAT again."

Hey, that's pretty funny for my mom...

After motoring through the plains for about 4 weeks I was forced to devote the remainder of my summer to picking out all the little fried buggy parts beneath the bonnet. It's a regular BBQ under there, thanks to the scoop.

I agree... bug magnet. It sucks too. I feel like I wash my mini every other day... between the bugs and the brake dust... Im always washing a what should be clean car... Speaking of which... anyone know of a good rag to wash it witih. I noticed on the roof ( its black) there are little swirls where I have been washing it... That must stop... In search of a good rag.. any suggestions?

Bug magnet it is.
Rain X works quite well. The deadies almost slide off after splating. Quick detailing stuff gets the goo off the bumper and bonnet fine. Its what sticks to the radiator and intercooler thats tough to remove.
