Who here regularly consumes any amount of oil for either breakfast, lunch, or dinner?

Sorry. In all seriousness, has anyone had to add oil to their MC or MCS? I have about 18,000 miles on my MCS, and have changed the oil approximately every 4000 miles since new with Mobil 1 5W-30. For the first four oil changes, there was absolutely no discernable oil consumption, whatsoever. In the last 2000 miles, I have added probably the better part of 3/4 of a quart. I checked the oil yesterday and noticed that I will probably have to add more before I next change the oil. I have checked for leaks, and there are none. BTW, I have never noticed the blue smoke on startup that I have heard some mention here.

I am concerned because this, in my eyes, is still a very new car. I have had two vehicles exceed 250,000 miles (one of which I still drive and consider my daily driver!) with no discernable oil consumption between changes (no engine work either!). Additionally, my MCS has been pampered, to say the least (the car sleeps in a heated garage).

Later,
Jeff

I guess you aren't getting any replies because it's hard to figure what the problem would be. Have your driving habits changed, ie, more high RPM time? Did you notice the oil consumption increased when the weather was hotter? I trust Mobile One to be a fine oil, but I'd be tempted to put MINI, (I know, Castrol), back in for an oil change to see if it made any difference. Also, if you tell your dealer about the problem their first question will be, "what kind of oil are you using". This is, of course, the start of their defense against responsibility if something is actually wrong.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

ALL engines burn oil. It is the degree that needs to be looked at. If you hammer it a lot, you will burn more that if you drive it sedately......a conversation with your service advisor might be in order.....you are still under warranty so......
