I just ran across this BBC article about the MINI's success over here in the US. Lots of SUV bashing, and ******* quote from Trent Lott. Enjoy!

Nope! What the heck are they doing putting up links to two-year-old articles?

Very old article, but I still like it. I agree with most of the article. I am a true American, but we are so wasteful over here and the mentality on cars in the US is ludicrous.

I drive 120 miles back and forth to work everyday. I have three kids, and we have a minivan and a mini. I take the mini to work. No one can believe why I bought a Mini if I have three kids. Since I can't fit them in it, I should be buying an SUV. I said, why so I can pay a ton of money on gas and use it maybe once a month to put the kids in it. That is why I have a minivan. I see so many large trucks and SUVs on the road in the morning going to work, with no one but a single driver in the vehicle. They probably use the capacity of the vehicle maybe once or twice a month. It is amazing how Europeans are able to do anything without these large trucks and SUVs. Maybe it is because they are more frugal and get by with less.

I am tired of everyone saying "can that vehicle be safe?" I don't care what kind of vehicle you are in, if it is a big enough accident you will die. You can't control the kind of accident. My mother had a Ford F350, which is a massive truck and she was in an accident and barely lived out of it and the truck was demolished. In fact, she only lived because she was not wearing her seatbelt. Anyway, enough of my ranting. Good article.

Well it might be old, but Gabe Bridger thought it was newsworthy.

Check it out.
