- remove supercharger, check the oil level on front and rear reservoirs
- replace one time use gaskets that become defective when the supercharger is removed.
- replace valve cover gasket and bolts (they're rusty as fff*****-____- )
- replace serpentine belt
- replace radiator (defective on my car at the moment)
- replace thermostat
- oil change

Should I replace the camshaft and crank O rings while I'm at it?
Also considering the oil pan gasket..

I'm really touching up on everything because I plan on working on my Competition license on this car, so yes it will be tracked often this summer.

Anything else I'm missing?

On "service mode"
I hope that's not green coolant...

Good point, it did have green anti freeze which at times eats the insides of your coolant jackets if it become contaminated. I'm replacing it with the "orange" kind that is made up of organic acid which is proper for aluminum engines. Let just hope my waterpump is ok, not exacty ready to replace one right now..

I wouldn't use that either, it coagulated my hoses.. I'd go with blue coolant, or the OEM stuff. I hope mine is ok as well

Think you got that mixed up....
orange coolant =DEX COOL....the stuff that eats motors, and turns to jello...
yellow or green are both conventional....and bmw blue is s very slight hybird, with more in common with the conventional....

Well idk, I used green coolant and it wreaked all sorts of hell on my cooling system, I just don't want what happened to me happen to anyone else.. But you seem to have things under control so it's cool

If you drain the system and fill it back up with 50/50 mix you should be fine.. You would have to add distilled to those that dont come mixed.

May I suggest a careful compression check - before you even get started?

The results might change your priorities - and it might be best to know beforehand.

Cheers,

Charlie

Yea all that's been taken care of.. The system pretty much drained itself (drove off, forgetting to reconnect a hose LOL) but that was a long time ago. Everything is all good now, well provided that the heater core isn't clogged that is..

It was the very first thing that I did soon after deciding to make it a track car

So just to recap:
This is going to be a track car.
The car is being carefully prepped for this.
An engine rebuild may even be on the table despite good compression numbers.
You are not planning on changing the transmission oil because of an old wives tale and Jeep transmission failure years ago?

I really think you should reconsider your position regarding transmission service. Engine oil, if never changed, is "lifetime" oil too; it will last the life of the engine.

Already replaced the trans fluid.. It'll be a somewhat of a daily driver and tracked depending on what is going on at Lime Rock or Lauden, those are the two closest tracks to me. Still have to see what is going on with instructors to get an idea of how often it'll be...

About the strict maintenance.. I flushed everything on my miata about as often as oil changes, that car practically lived on the rev limiter from auto crossing along with all the mistakes that I've made learning and I never had anything fail on me, other than all the crap that needs to be replaced because of age.. But in terms or drivetrain, I never had a problem... But the miata was a lot more cheaper to maintain overall, so It dint really matter to me if I blew the engine or lost my clutch. You can buy that car's entire drivetrain in perfect condition for about $400..
Now the MINI in the other is bit costly, you're looking at $900 for the charger alone, I'm just being careful with what I'm doing.
I had first hand experience with a major component failure during a time that I couldn't really afford it, so I got a little bit more cautious because of that..

On a side note, the transfer case from a 2012 BMW X3 looks almost identical to the one on my Jeep.. The old stuff isn't much outdated

Really? I've always used 50/50... Might just keep it that way lol

That's a relief. I must have misunderstood.

I assume you already know, but for track events your best bet is motorsportreg. On another tab, I'm working on a listing for an Audi club event at LRP in May (two days). SCDA and EMRA run LRP too. If you want to do a fair amount of driving at NHMS, consider joining COM (comscc.com).
