R50/53 Installing Powerflex Complete Engine Bushing Set
so, just to get rid of any confusion here... taking a look at this diagram:
http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...66&hg=22&fg=05
i am under the impression that the TSW and VT mounts, would be replacing #4... while the PF inserts would be an addition to #8?
and then the lower mount is #11? which VT and BSH make replacements for, as well as the PF inserts?
again i am a 4/03 model if it makes a difference.

Yes, I think you have it right. #4 in the 03' cars is not fluid filled like the 04+ cars....and I've heard they are more durable. Mine looked fine after 120,000 miles....so I just left it. The PF bushings really firm everything up....I don't really know why the TSW or VT mounts would be any better...they just cost more. Just go with the full PF kit for the 03' R53s...it's got everything you need. Way Motorworks sells the kits.
i bought the large and small inserts for both upper and lower. hopfully it goes smoothly.
I have the lower engine bushing (main, large yellow bushing) and am impressed for such a cheap mod. Does the smaller lower engine bushing (purple) make a noticeable difference, or is it relatively minor?
i have no comparison. i did the large and small on both upper and lower.
what i can say, i do like it, and actually wouldnt mind if they were even a little stiffer. its all personal preference though.
also, when doing the small ends, youre going to have to hammer the old bushings out, since they are complete replacments. so theres no going back without buying new oem if you dont like it. i like mine though.
