R50/53 62,000 mile service?
62,000 mile service?
My car is approaching 62,000 miles and I have been noticing for a while that the service countdown is getting close to just under 200 miles till next service. I assume that's what it means. The other day the SES light came on so is that normal and just means that my next service is due?
If so what is the service performed at 62,000 miles? I would like to do as much if not all of it myself.

Thank you Colin. Oil change huh? When I bought the car it had 44,000 miles on it and the change oil light is just coming on now at 62,000!?
Of course I have changed the oil myself three times already.
Is there a list somewhere that shows what should be checked/replaced at certain mileage intervals?
When I went to my local dealerships website and looked up what maintenance is needed they didn't show anything specifically by mileage. Just "Service 1" and "Service 2" and a bunch of separate items.

You may be due for Inspection II. There are a few threads that list out all the items that need to be checked and parts that must be replaced. I would say get a Bently manual and do it yourself which will save you lots of cash. I was quoted $1,200 for the inspection (just wanted to check) but most of that is labor. The light is easy to reset once you are done.
My situation was kinda like yours. I bought my car with 50k and being a prior BMW owner I kinda had a feeling that inspection II was coming up. I just started right away wrenching on the weekends to spread it out and reading/learning about a procedure before moving to the next. Save the money and DIY!
