Only if you want to leave the switch under the hood. The switch is the reason for running it through the firewall and to be mounted to your dash.

>>So Im reading there are 2 options:
>>
>>1. With high-beams, tap smaller white wire into one of the yellow/green wires

Without high beams (operated independently by the provided switch located though firewall and on your dash), connect the smaller white wire to the large white wire---both bolted down to the positive terminal.

Does this make sense?

Sid

MSFITOY- wouldn't that loose the switched ignition capability? Your
driving lites remain lit even if your iginition is in the off position?
I thought the tapping into #36 was so that you can trigger the relay
from your switch to turn on your Piaa's only when the ignition is in
the ON position and the benefit of turning them on without the hi-beams.
That's what I am after.

I've been looking for a small fog light to replace the dim factory fog lights. You can barely tell when those things are even on. I'd like a little more light at low beam when it's pitch black and I'm driving in the wilds. Pretty much any night here in rural Oregon!

Ken,

I guess I've never considered the PIAAs to be anything other than driving beams. In which case, it's only turned on at limited times (like way out in the boonies LOL). I suppose you could go ahead and wire it up to the fuse box. I've got mine hooked up to the high beam because they will only be used that way. They're also aimed up higher to take advantage of the candle power to reach out and burn...hee heee

jimmero- Your factory ones are dim? really? I have yellow lens covers
on mine and its still pretty bright...

>to reach out and burn...hee heee

MSFITOY- j/k. I only plan to use the driving lights
on occassion myself. They will be more of a decoration more than
anything. I drive in the deep forests sometimes at night so its
functionality will become important too.

Does anyone sell the driving light protectors for the 540's? I have
a pair of the factory size from the Xpel headlight kit, but it's too
small should I still put them on? ...nnnn..

I have the tiny fog lights that come in the lower front bumper...I think they were part of the sport package.

I can barely tell they're on when I'm parked and they don't throw much light when I'm moving. I don't really want to put the large PIAA fog lights up on the bumper (not my style) so I'd rather get something that would fit in the front bumper where the stock ones are.

At some point I'll have to stick my head under there and see what will fit.

You can get generic squares from Griots. I then trimmed out my own. I used blue tinted ones on mine than they exaggerate the blue bulb even more.

Still searching...

Actually, I still like the PIAA 520s, but am now considering the black housings as opposed to chrome. Anyone have these installed? Pics would be appreciated.

Also note that Mini-Madness has replaced the PIAA 520s with a new "no name" light in their kits. I believe the lights pictured on their site are still the 520s. The new light is similar, but a bit deeper front to back and with a blue bulb, which did not look "proper" to me.
