Dropped off in the morning for 15% pulley work.

Picked it up after work.

Drove it home

Again, heck with the rest of 46000 miles worth of warranty!!!

Also got the sway bar installed too.

Cool! I've been thinking of doing the same thing for my MINI at some point. Let us know how much performance increase you get and whether you think its worth the money once its done.

I got the 15% pulley at about 8000 miles and would do it again the day I picked up another MCS. Well worth it for the extra fun factor!

leer: how much did you pay?

others: how much did it cost you guys? I've noticed that this is something that would require some serious work to do by yourself. Would you trust any old garage to do it or should I take it to some place that specializes in performance mods?

I had Randy Webb do it at the Phoenix pulley party last november (Hafid had his done the same weekend). We paid $400 installed each.
It looked like there would be a significant learning curve, but once a mechanic had done a few, they go pretty fast. As with so many mechanical things, having the right tools makes a HUGE difference.
I think I would want to have someone else's car provide the learning curve. Seeing as how it may void the factory warranty, I'd get someone who's done a few.
Just my opinion.

Although I don't think the presence of a 15% pulley will automatically void your warranty, still to me the factory warranty coverage is very valuable to me....you never know when you are going to need it.

In future I will go the JCW route. I respect the aftermarket companies and the efforst they do to bring out high quality products...just don't trust their long term testing methods, that's all.

Got a 15% pulley in January......as far as performance goes, it's worth considerably MORE than I paid for it!

I hadn't found out until later that my installer had lunched his blower recently. He wasn't hiding it, I hadn't asked, and it wasn't posted, yet. I also heard later that he was on number 3.

If had known that, I would have had even more second thoughts. I had this false vision of extensive, like 50 k, of testing being done without out a failure, I was wrong. It was tested, not as well as I had, or as long as I had thought. The long term testing is being done by us, the customer. imo.

I think it was less than $400 for parts and labor (clamp on style). I got it done at Helix - Eric was great and even dropped me off at work in centre Phila. I've also got the RDR sway bar done also, but it hasn't made the great impression yet - but I still have the run flat.
