NO Ipod cord in the glovebox...what gives?

When I bought BOO a couple of weeks ago...I looked in the glovebox and NO ipod cord....BUMMER....I thought '05's and up have a WHITE Ipod cord in the glovebox....Anyone have a picture of their's in the box and is it plugged into the back of the radio and then is there a hole in the side of the glovebox that the cord comes out of? Am trying to stay original to the mini. Is this a picture of what I need...My griffin fm/ipod thingy doesn't play it loud enough for me..

Thanks Jeffrey

No 1st gen came with it installed. Its an aftermarket option you have to purchase and install.

Yup....mini did make an aux jack too...
I-pod intergration has alwas been poor...so imo, the aux in might be the way to go. Remember, the basic radio in the gen1 mini goes back to 2002.....mp3 capibility and sat in was added later...but still an old, limited head unit.

05 was the first year you could add the BMW iPod integration to, it was a dealer installed option. The iPod showed up as the CD changer, and you could only access 6 playlists, one for each disk. The iPod needed playlists which started with MINI1_ to MINI6_.

I don't think the thing you have is the right thing. There wasn't USB control of iPods in 05. This is the best picture I have of my 05:

And before that you could get the aux input:

As I understand it the factory iPod integration if you will call it that also doesnt charge current I phones either.

I went with the new grom unit. It supports USB, iPod, and Bluetooth both hands free and a2dp profiles and most importantly iphone5

It was also cheaper than the dealer option too

Wise choice. I'm looking at the GROM option now as well. I had the OEM iPod kit in my 03 mini (05 OEM R50 Alpine Radio w/HK) and it was NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS! It would cut in and out when the iPhone or iPod was connected and it led me to believe that I needed to replace the HK Amp (900$ amp). I uninstalled the OEM iPod adapter and replaced the radio fuses in the fuse compartment and all the evil electrical gremlins dissappeared and every thing returned to normal.

I'm wondering about the GROM USB playlists, do you have to move all the files into a separate music folder or can the playlist be compiled on iTunes ??
