Sorry, I was not sure what room to post this queston....I need two additional license plate screws for my 04 Cooper. Can anyone tel me what size to get? I picked up some metrics at my local auto supply shop but they don't fit. And the American standards doesn't seem to work either. Thanks, rk

I believe they are M6x1.5 and about 8mm long. This is for the back. The front are self tapping, around M8 but you can put just about anything there. Make sure that you do not install screws too long in the rear. Depending on if you use a frame around your plate and it's thickness, you may have to trial assemble it to make sure the screws dont extend past the plate holder and dig into the paint below. Easiest way to do this is to remove the rear plate holder.

Thanks. Yes, they are for the front frame and I am using a frame holder. Self tapping? Forgive my ignorance but what does that mean? Thanks and regards, Richard

Self-tapping screws have a coarse thread and a point - similar to a common wood screw, these cut their own threads as they are driven. The rear takes what are commonly known as 'machine' screws - ones that mate up with a nut or tapped threads already in place.
