R50/53 question about the tachometer.
I had my tachometer replaced today because the needle was stuck at 2000 rpms. It works now but my trip computer doesn't show my instantaneous fuel consumption but that's for my dealer to figure out. My question is that as I am looking at the tachometer, I notice that starting at 5500 rpms there are hatch marks on the dial at everu 250 rpms, but these hatch marks are not lit until 6500 rpms; this is with the lights on and off. Are the hatch marks supposed to be ALL lit or are they supposed to be different colors or are not supposed to be lit at all? Can someone tell me?
thnx

This is what I speculate, as my tach is the same as yours. I would ASSUME that MINI uses this tach for all models of the car, the S, Cooper, Cooper One, and Cooper D. The Cooper D that's sold in Europe has a significantly lower redline due to obvious reasons being a diesel engine, so I guess they wanted to save money by making only one type of tach, then lighting up the redline depending on the engine type.
I hope my guess is right, and maybe someone can help prove me right, or wrong!
