overheating

Alright so im trying to diagnose my car. The other day it overheated. not sure why but i was able to check a few things. My fans are coming on. I have coolant. I was in stop and go traffic. can anyone tell me if my thermostat went out or if there is something else that is wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah it could be a stuck thermostat. Could be air in cooling system too if there was a thermo gasket leak. Check drivers side of cylinder head and bellhousing for coolant leaks.

Oil looks ok right? Not creamy right?
No odd sounds lately? Most folks know the water pump is run off a set of gears that is connected to the bottom of the SC...should be ok, but oil can leak out..gears run dry...makes a bit of a rattling, chain dragging sound/high speed grinding as the gears are progressuvly ground down...results in overheating at early stages at low rpm the lots more as the pump nearly stops, totally stops) and the crank damp must be ok, along with the belt...
90% chance it would be an a thermostat, air bubble, etc, even a plugged raditor from somebody pouring sealent in it....but other things you need to be aware of as possible.
just besure to not let the overheating happen more than a time or two, or you can cause many more $$ issues....
When you open ip the cooling system, it will give you a chance to clean/flush it...should be done every 2 years, then refilled....bleeding a mini is a pain2 valves to get the air out..might take a bit, and an extra few pints of fluid.
