R50/53 Secret of the red clips
Secret of the red clips
I'm sure the vacuum hoses with red clips holding them in on the supercharger and SC intake are not new to people. The question is, how did you get the hoses disconnected? I had one hose already partly out of the clip, so that one came out fairly easily. The second one I tried to pry out on all sides evenly to keep it from breaking, but it still snapped. I tried pushing the clip in and pulling the hose out. I tried pulling them both out at the same time, I tried just the hose, no dice every time. Maybe I'm missing the secret to these, but these clips seem pretty poorly designed.
So at this point, I have one out, one still in with intact clip, and one still in with broken clip. How do I deal with these things?

what r34king said. The clips are a bit counterintuitive. One would think you have to pull the clips up to release the hose, but you actually just push them down and pull the hose up. This is to keep the hoses from just pulling up and out on their own because the red clip will follow the hose up keeping it in place.
Thanks guys. I tried to hold down the clip as I pulled on the hose last night, but it just wouldn't budge. Tonight, I'm putting on Gangnam Style at full blast and that hose is coming out. Worst case - I break the clip and have to buy a new SC intake off Ebay for $35.
