last week in MI we had like 8 inches of rain fall over night and my car leaked, so i had about 4 inches of water in my footwells that I bailed out with a coffee cup. I drove around for about 3 days and everything was fine then she wouldnt start, battery is fine check all that business but my CEL and EML lights were still on so I had it towed to my mechanic and hes working on it but hes pretty sure its the ecu getting wet from the water, so any idea what im going to pay for a new one or is there a better one I can replace it with?

 

Doubt it is the ECU, on the R53 it is in the engine bay and I can only assume that it is on the Cooper as well. Most likely it is the BC1 that is damaged.

ECU is not cheap, about $1200 if I remember correctly.

 

05 r50, it may be covered under insurance for water dmg tho, im waiting for the progressive agent to get out there before i do anything(should be tmr)
