R50/53 Question after turning 100K
Question after turning 100K
A friend of mine suggested I get my supercharger serviced in my 2006 MCSa. I wanted to get some thoughts from others who have had it. Is this a necessary service? He said the oil could lose viscosity and turn my gears to dust. I have some other maintenance I want to do first, so I am just seeing if this is a priority or something to do eventually. Oh, I recently upgraded to a 15% pulley last summer, along with Magnacore wires and JCW plugs.
Thanks!
Thanks!
It's up to you, some S/C's have lasted 170,000 plus, but your friend is wrong when it comes to Mini's & S/C oil, the problem with Mini's is that the seals in the rear of the S/C that keep the oil in the W/P gear housing start to go bad & seep the oil into the S/C itself, it doesn't hurt the S/C but the W/P gears loose lubrication and start to grind on each other, you can usually hear a change when it starts to happen.
Honestly from a PM standpoint you prob. have 25,000 more miles to decide if you want to do it or not, at least.
