Time to bring this post back from the dead....
I finally got around to installing my sample of GTMat, This stuff really works. I covered the (boot) hatch, back lip and floor. It does a great job keeping out road noise and tames the cabin noise from my exhaust. It goes on ease and unlike some of the other products that Iv'e used it didn't need a heat gun to get it to hug contours.
As soon as I find out how thick this sample was I'll be getting more. I'll probably have to do small parts at a time but eventually I'll have the whole car covered in it!!!

Hey cool! I recently did more of my car too, ripping out the rear quarter panels. I'd love to do the floor and such, but I don't feel like tearing the car apart completely just yet.
I lucked out and got a complimentary 50ft roll of the stuff for starting this thread!
The more you do, the quieter the car gets!
Do the insides of the doors next. Really helps the speakers!
What method did you use? I cut mine into strips about 2 inches wide. Way easier than using big sheets. You break the roller yet? Lol. I broke both fairly quickly.

Unfortunately we are not running the 10sq ft promotion anymore but I can still cut you a deal on that size or provide a quote for a different thickness. Take a look at our site and get in touch with me for a discount.
I just cut it into manageable smaller sections for the back LIP and floor. I cut and installed one BIG piece on the hatch. The roller is still up and running SO FAR
.
Will the 50 FT role do your WHOLE car?

Yes, I believe it will. I used about 10 sq ft for some of the rear, and maybe half of my 50ft roll for the rest of the interior. Keep in mind, I didn't do the floor (i did so the rear floor) bc I don't feel like ripping up the Front seats. But with another 20+ sq ft left, I imagine it's def possible to do the whole car.
Hey Tracie, I just installed 25 sq ft of the Gtmat 110 it is super thick! I wanted to ask Can it adhere upside down for a long time? Also I'm thinking of purchasing another 75 sq ft of it, any deals going on?
Thank You,
Aleks

What thickness are you guys finding is best for most of the car? Seems you could put it thicker in spots and thinner where you are fitting under panels. I believe Tracie said the sample was 50ml.

The reason I went with the thickest is because I have a subwoofer in the trunk and science says the more mass you add to a panel the lower the resonating frequency will be so in the theory the thicker material should reduce rattle better and be a slightly better insulator.
I think I used the 50mil on most of the car. Worked wonders. Just be sure to pre clean your areas with rubbing alcohol. Also, it won't stick to the places that are very "textured", nor will it stick to the factory sound paneling. Also, it should adhere upside down, don't see any reason for it not to.
I think you can "double it up" if you wanted it extra thick, but the key is to get it on as much of the car as possible. I've done almost everything but the roof and floor and under the dash and the mini is Super quiet inside now!

Yup, my pack came with a roller, I used that to roll it on tight and it is good, didn't clean 100% but most of what I applied was on a flat surface, I just used some windex and got the sand out with a vac. Not worried about its adhesive ness for now but I'm not sure what will happen a year later on the upside down peices I tested.
I got a sample roll of the GTMat when it was first introduced on NAM and I FINALLY got a chance to install it. It's been sitting in storage for such a long time.
Placed it in the trunk and it does not have any rattles or creaks that I notice anymore. Excellent product!

If the surface area was cleaned properly, you should not have any issues with upside down installation. I would recommend using a heat gun for any other upside down installs just to improve the tackiness. Also, please do not double up on the 110mil for upside down installs.

WOW! this stuff sounds great... I just got a 2010 Mini Cooper S with HK option in it.. but its time to upgrade the Speakers... I was looking at Dynamat but they are a bit pricey... I am researching and will be doing this project over the holidays since I got some RR time =) Anyone on here have an estimate of how much SQ FT to do the car?
I have quite a bit. 50ft roll. Still have about half, did the back half of the car, doors, some other bits. I also bought like 10 ? Sqft initially. So, depending on how much you want to tear out your car, I'd say a fifty ft roll auta do it.
