Has anyone ever figure out whether this can be easily fixed? I have the same problem with my r50 and I added an oil charge to the system and nothing changed. The pitch of the howl remains the same....

Mines been noisy forever....I've never found anything that really quiets it down at all. It might just be the design of the A/C compressor. I just try to roll my windows down....unless it's super hot out and I don't have any other choice. I can deal with the extra noise.....I just hate how much power the A/C takes to run....at low RPM's, it feels like the motor has long 50hp when the A/C is on .

I too was hoping someone had found a fix for this as well. Guess I'll just have to live with it.

Happy I'm not alone here I suppose. I didn't drive the car much last summer and have been experiencing this again. Does anyone know if a new AC compressor would have less of a drain on the system?

I found out the other day that it is a HUGE drain on my charging system. I noticed at Idle with the AC on, my charging system drops to 12.5 volts and with the AC off it reads 14.1 volts. I've had Astro for just over a year and can't really remember it being this bad last summer. I'm starting to suspect either the alternator or compressor bearings are going bad. I have the same loud howling noise at ~3k RPM with the AC on and can't honestly remember it doing this last summer.
