Remote Exhaust Cutout

Saw a remote controlled exhaust cut out recently. Have done the basic mods to 05 s brakes, pulley, cold air, tower braces, etc. and it seems cat back is the next step. Does a simple exhaust dump make sense here. My perfomance desires are for track days not daily drives, so 800 for a throaty sound means little. The no back presure after the CAT makes some sense to me, am I all wet?

Thanks as always!

Check your local track's sound limits. I know a lot of the fart can compacts running around here would never be legal at LRP. I have a friend who used to work the sound checks there before moving out of state.

Oh, and if it's in fact for track days, then you don't need any remote control, right? Seeing as how an electrically controlled cutout will probably not be much less than an IE exhaust.....

We had a mini locally that had an electric cut out installed . I have to say i do like my toys loud but I really didn't like the tone of the mini. It was loud for sure but not in a good way. I would make a effort to hear a unmuffled mini before going to the effort.
Second point is that you will loose a bit of torque for sure and perhaps HP as well. The stock or near stock R-53 engine needs a bit of back pressure for max results. When the mini first came out in 02 there were a number of companies that came out with some very low back pressure systems and they all lost power.

Please don't mind my ignorance, but would you still lose torque if you did it after the cat? or is that just pointless? I know some cut outs let you run it in any position, not just fully open or fully closed. if you had it 1/2 or 3/4 open could you still get the function of the open exhaust while still having a small amount of back pressure?

And I like the sound of my stock exhaust (and because of small town police) Couldn't you run this on a stock exhaust, have it completely closed and be fine, or open? I think I would like this on just my stock exhaust, and not spend $600-1K for one that I like sometimes but am annoyed by other times.
