I just bought an '03 MCS, 101K miles- no mods that I know of. There is an oil deposit on the right side of the supercharger. I didn't want to clean up the oil until I get an answer as to why it is there. I have no known symptoms to provide, I was hoping that someone could give me some direction.

I can't really tell from the picture, but I've seen oil leaking from a bad engine mount. I assume you're not sure where the oil is coming from? Is there any oil on the ground?
I guess you've got the right idea, take it to somebody and have it looked at.
Just make sure you check your oil!

 

It is on the right side of the supercharger top of the engine, no other significant oil deposits. I just acquired my MCS so my knowledge/familiarity is limited.

 

Sorry I was thinking it was on the other side. I went out and opened my bonnet and found exactly where your pic is from. I have seen where there is a lot of oil built up under the inter cooler in some pictures. There isn't a trace of oil in that same spot on my MINI, so I guess I'm no help. Hopefully it's something simple like some cleaning, and not a supercharger issue!!
