R50/53 color...
i like it but i would prefer british racing green with a white top but my parents dont want me to order. they want me just to buy it off the lot.
i cant really complain much cause they'll be the ones paying for my MINI.

I personally perfer the dark silver with black roof. I would have bought one so painted but after a black car for years I wanted something that was a real color
The BRG is great too. I'd love living with either one if I didn't have my blue.

do you guys think a darksilver MINI COOPER S with a black top is ugly??
And this is coming from a ChiliRed/White owner
I say guys should get black roofs, girls should get white roofs
Actually though, I think my combo of BRG and black roof is the best, and a close second is Electric Blue with a white top. When I was in the dealer last week they had a dark silver one with a black top, it looked pretty hot, so I'd say thats a good color choice.

You'll love it! I chose DS/DS and am very happy
with it. But really, I do like all the colors. I thought
about a black roof to cause the sunroof to blend in
a bit more... anyway, it's all good!
Godspeed.

I would say that Dark silver with Black roof is very aggressive esp if you get the aero kit or side skirts.
Good with silver or chrome wheels but more aggressive with anthracite or black wheels.
Pure silver with Black roof can also be aggressive.
Either with white roof is less aggressive- esp with white wheels
Neither with body colored roof is more neutral
All of these silver choices are good ones and very very common. Certainly none of them are ugly.

That's the color combo I have. l love it and every one who sees it, comments on how nice it is.
Just today someone stopped me and said that is the best color.
Just today another person asked how I liked my car.
Just today another person wanted to talk about minis, he was from across the pond and use to rally minis....probably for the queen.

isykal,
I think DS/B is a great looking car. But my question is, What do your folks have against ordering? Is the BRG a metallic and the DS not? Therefore saving $400? Or is there some terrible markup at your dealership for ordering (or big markdown?! for buying in-stock)? If they are going to buy a car for you, or at least for you to drive, I think you have a case for it being the color you want.
Tell 'em I said so.
Cheers,
John L

>>DS/B MCS is also known as Stealth MINI - very cool!
I agree with the stealth part. I just traded an 02 Cooper Chili Red/White with chequered rooof and stripes that was not exactly subtle. I bought an 04 MCS Dark Silver/ Black and tinted the windows dark charcoal. It is definitely stealthy.
I always said I would never buy a dark grey or silver car because insurance statistics show those colors are involved in more accidents. The color tends to blend into the roadway and people don't see it coming.
This car was so cool looking I bought it anyway. It has the cordoba beige interior which looks really nice with the exterior colors.

Color choice- the land of complete subjectivity. The first new MINI I saw was CR/W, and it turned my head for sure. However I wanted a slightly more subtle color combo, and I've had my PS/B MC for over a year and have loved it. Over time, the look of an IB/W, a good bit more flashy, began to catch my eye until I was sure it would be my next MINI's color combo. Then a funny thing happened: in any picture of a group of MINI's my eye began to be drawn to the CR/W combos, so much that since my circumstances now allow for an upgrade, I've ordered a CR/W MCS, w/ white wheels and rally stripes. Dark colors w/ white roofs and light colors w/ dark roofs are the best looking combos, IMO, and I also think that dark colors w/ dark roofs are pretty bland, since contrast is what MINI's seem to be about. Wheel choice can be changed, so you can experiment there. Bottom line: it's mighty hard to find an ugly MINI.
Give me a break! I guess this is the place to ask questions, but we ar enot your personal psychiotrist. Color is personal choice. For me I have chosen liquid yellow/black top. Why? PERSONAL CHOICE! My last name happens to be bies (pronounced bees). And for other reasons.;.. My father bought a BMW back in 1972, a BMW 2002 model and it being yellow. In fact, it is the same shade of yellow that we call the new "Liquid Yellow"!
I'd be real hard pressed to say that ANY MINI color combo is ugly...I even liked an SG/SG I saw recently. (I admit it....I'm a pushover)
I wanted a classic, cheeky Mini look for my MINI, but not too "in-your-face" which is exactly what I have in my IB/W Cooper. It suits my particular vision perfectly.
I do agree with what's been said, DS/B is a very slealthy, classy-looking combo and if you like it now, you'll L-O-V-E it when its sitting in your driveway. Appealing asthetics are one attraction for sure. But the rest of the car is equally enthralling. Ain't it great!?!?!?!?!
Think it out, then go with your gut!

I'm not sure if this is really true. Not trying to be difficult or anything. It could be that insurance companies don't want to give anyone a break. There's so many statistics anymore, it's hard to know which ones to believe. But I just read something the other day (in a magazine if I remember right) that mentioned some statistics that silver cars had the least accidents with white second, and some of the more colorful cars after that, such as red, blue, etc. The article said it may be because the silver is sparkly or something and catches the eye better.
Anyway, I do like the silver and dark silver colors with black top. Maybe the most. My wife's nephew's girl friend (mouthful) has a black MINI with black roof and they want to change that to one of the silver colors. It's all personal preference. We chose a color that we had not had before (in a car).

I hope not... my order is being placed today for that exact combo; I had to wait for the dealer’s allocation. I just received my production #. Excited is an understatement!!! May can’t get her soon enough.
Is there anything else about the DS/B that you would change? Like the interior? I am assuming it is probably loaded. The MINI is unique in that you can order the exact spec you choose and they will build it too suit your taste.
Getting the exact MINI you want is very nice,
Waiting for it is not so nice.
Getting a MINI right off the lot is nice.
I have DS/B and I love it. I also like CR/B and B/B and IB/B.

The vast minority of SG/SG owners thank you for being a pushover, we think ours is a most elegant combination.
But then, any MINI combination is a most elegant thing.
We drive MINI's, anything else is just a car.
