100k what maintenance should I do?
2005 standard mini cooper with cvt transmission. About to cross 100k miles. I don't have the owners manual. Was hoping someone on here would let me know what engine/power train maintenance I should do. Has had typical oil changes, brakes, power steering replacement (3 times). Lately I have been noticing an occasional thing with the transmission. When cruising at 70mph if I let my foot off the gas the rpm's sometimes increases by 200-300 for a little while until I push the gas pedal in. I don't remember this happening before. It is my wife's car and I only drive it occasionally.
Either get a tranny flush or look for a new car. Sad to say but that CVT is a ticking time-bomb. When it fails the car will be forth just a couple of thousand dollars at best and the repair is about $7k in parts. Not trying to be a debbie downer but rather proactive in looking for the next ride.
Second on getting the tranny serviced ASAP.
mini orgionaly said these units were sealed, and were good for life...lots of faiures proved they needed care to prolong their life, and most mini dealers started servicing them, some even under the free mantance plans.
100k is not a magic number on a mini for anything...
Book pm's show oil change at 15, inspection1 at 30, oilchange 45, inspection 2 at 60, then repeat ...
The 15,000 is the average (computer calculates it based on number of gallons of fuel burnt), and some items, such as brake fluid and radiator fluid (not long life on a mini) are done on a calandar schedule....
basicly findout what you have neglected, and get caught up!!
The inspection schedule, snd inspection items are posted in numerous places here, and the manual is avalable for download in the mini lounge at miniusa.com.

Ok thanks. I will get the tranny flushed next week. Called 2 dealers in nj. They both quoted around $300. AAmco in my town refused to work on it. Will try around some more before paying the ransom to the mini dealer.
