50 state legal cold air intake for R50

My OEM box has a stripped thread on one of the bolts and doesn't close completely (use tape to keep closed).

I live in California and found this (about halfway down page) and was wondering if anybody has used it?

I Have the same intake except for the fact that the model I have is made for 2002-2004. It is an awesome intake, what questions did you have?

If you're doing it for the sound or because it's cheaper that's one thing. Don't do it expecting any performance difference though.

Just figured it's probably cheaper than OEM and as long as it has a CARB sticker I'm ok here.

The aFe has a CARB sticker, and I quite like it. Sounds great, modest power boost at 4000rpm+.

^That's the same one I have on my car, I actually decided to get an aFe over a K&N because of dannyhavok's high praise over them!

Good Luck!

+1

I made my own from parts at auto zone originally, but worried about smog, I purchased a used AFE from a member here since AFE is one of the few that has a CARB EO number.

http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermk...rmktdevice.php then press ctrl+f and type mini to see what pops up.

EO for the AFE kits are D-550-2 or D-550-3 depending on the specific model you get. Mine has the model number etched into the top of the cover.

Good luck man.
