R50/53 Mini roof rack alternative solution
Mini roof rack alternative solution
Hi everyone,
I have a 2004 R53. TSW springs, 15% pulley, Alta intake, One ball exhaust, unichip with 215/45/17 Kumho Ecsta SPT. I had a Yakima rood rack that held 1 bike + 3 skis... Until it was stolen of the roof of my car.
So i've been thinking about possible alternatives. I could get a hitch mount system, but i rub in the rear everytime i hit a decent sized dip in the road. I may be able to do a trunk mount, but the spoiler complicates things, and i cannot get into the trunk with bikes on the back.
Then the solution hit me. For about the same price as a full roof rack setup, i can get one of these.
I can toss all sorts of crap back there with any issue, and for $850 dollars, it is almost worth its weight in steel.
Anyway, its no mini, but instead of molesting my mini, i can cruise in this tractor and not worry about racking up mileage or ruining the interior or exterior.
