Check Engine Light

Good Morning Everyone!
So yesterday on my way back from class my check engine light came on . Is there a way to check and see what is going on without taking it to a dealer? Because the dealer is going to charge me $80 to have it looked at, and then another $100 for the warranty decuctable (if the warranty will cover it). Anything common problems I should be looking for that would be an easy fix on my own?

Any suggestions would be awesome!

Take it by your local auto parts store (Advance Auto, AutoZone, O'Reilly, etc.). They will read the code for you. You will still have to do some research on what the code means and how urgent it is to be addressed, but you will at least have a start.

There is a TSB for a defective O2 sensor. If that's the problem dealer will fix for free.

I had the same problem, come to find out it was the fuel I ran, DO NOT RUN ANYTHING WITH ETHANOL. It will foul the O2 sensor or wig it out at best.
