I need some opinions on the Promini gauges. 2 links are posted below. I am sure people have installed them themselves. Does it only take the ability of a "Wweekend handyman" to do it???

HMS has a predrilled oil cap. Will that be as accurate as if you place the sensor in the drain plug?? I assume that is how Promini's package does it.

Can I do it myself with my "Weekend handyman" skills?? Which way should I go???

HMS w/drilled oil cap.

Promini: could I not just drill my own oil cap??

HELP from anyone that has done this!!

Thank U!!

I have the promini gauges...there's no drilling required...just remove your oil press. sender switch and attach the supplied switch with the fittings, making sure you use teflon tape to prevent any leaking...everything is plug and play...you will need a 27mm, 12 point deep socket and a 1" deep socket and a couple of open end wrenches. the intercooler needs to be removed to attach a small plastic fitting to the fuel maping sensor. The instructions are very clear, with pics and all, and color codes for the wiring. It took me aprox. 4 hrs from start to finish.Just take your time and everything will be Ok.The satisfaction of doing it yourself is great, and if you can turn a wrench, you will be able to do this weekend project .Good luck....

I did notice that the kit on the other web site is for oil temp. and boost, not for oil press...and that's why you have to drill your oil cup...I have the oil press and boost from pro-mini so I didn't have to drill anything...

Thanks for the info MINISPIDER! sounds like the info provide with instructions will make it an easy job. But could you recheck the HMS SITE, it shows oil pressure not oil temp and I suspect that the sensor is located in there for pressure. Plus, when you say oil pressure sender, where is that located? Thanks for your help!
