R50/53 Resetting Service Mileage Counter
Resetting Service Mileage Counter
Just did an oil change on my recent purchase (05 MCS) and wanted to reset the service mileage counter. I did not see how to in the owners manual, can anybody provide the info? I hope it is not a dealer only setting and if so, can one do it via a code reader? Thanks!
1)Push-hold Trip Button (TB)
2)Turn key to position 1
3)Continue to hold (TB), the number 15A will show to the left of the milage
4)Release (TB) for 3 sec and then hold (TB) again
5)In about 5-8 sec RST will show in the left corner
6)Release and then hold again "15000" will show, press and release
2)Turn key to position 1
3)Continue to hold (TB), the number 15A will show to the left of the milage
4)Release (TB) for 3 sec and then hold (TB) again
5)In about 5-8 sec RST will show in the left corner
6)Release and then hold again "15000" will show, press and release
Thank you, worked like a charm! I appreciate the instructions.
A couple of minor (irrevelant) differences perhaps with a center mount speedo, 51A is what shows and it along with "rst" is below the mileage (where the clock displays) and the reset mileage is 15500 (I did see where the mileage actually counts down based on driving habits, pretty cool IMO).
Why this procedure is not in the owners manual is beyond me, it is included in many other manuals I have read, including some very entry level vehicles. Particularly as Mini owners appear to be more apt to do thier own service work and tinker with their prized possession.
Again, thanks for the instructions.
