Bringing back some old school?

Hey mini motorists, my father has a 67 mini cooper, 1000cc engine in it, and while planning for suspension, we cut the stock coils and put small 10 inch rims on the beast, which were 225 width. the thing sits low and the rims stick out wideeee i have an 04 MCS (Guess its in our generations? :P) and i was wondering, has anyone done anything similar to their newer coopers? they dont have to be insanely small, around 15 or 16's would be nice. if you know how, or have done it, please reply! i want to do it! plus, if you could snap some photos, it would be great!

I thought Minis in 1967 had the Hydrolastic suspension.

I know exactly the style. They always have nice flares, as well. Do a google image search on "stanced R53" and see if this is what you had in mind. The thing with the newer MINI is that there is already room for decently wide rubber under there. People with the 17" wheels on first gens can run tires with a 215mm section with no modification. But the "stance" crowd likes to push the envelope for extreme style, and while the MINI is not the most commonly used platform, it lends itself well.

Yeah buddy, thats almost exactly what i want. I just dont exactly want alot of camber or to have the whole car down really low, just to have the rims stickin out and being a bamf while pulling into my high school parking lot. Im 16 everyone underestimates the power of the mini. But about the rims, alot of spacers or buy deep set rims? I dont wanna crash 1500 bucks on rims and tires alonee. Any suggestions?

Well that is where my expertise ends. You have to be very precise to get that look, and I'm sure there are tried and true methods for achieving that. Your best bet is to consult the stance crowd directly. I'm sure there are standard principals that apply to all McPherson strut, FWD vehicles. My guess is that you will need some combination of high offset, wide wheels, coilovers, and probably spacers just to dial it in. Adjustable front strut mounts and rear lower control arms will let you correct the camber. It won't be cheap or easy, but if it was, "everyone" would do it. Plus it's probably going to ride like crap, rub, and not handle well. But like I said, I'm not the one to give advice in this area.

Ditto on a lot of what Blackbomber said.

There is a lot of work to getting a stanced MINI, I would suggest consulting people on Motoring Underground, not NAM.

If you are looking for just a look of a stanced car than you can achieve that.

If you still want to be able to drive the car, not have to worry about any sort of bump or pot hole and still want good maneuverability then I would suggest just lowering and not stancing your car. There is a sweet spot when you lower that car that will help a lot with maneuverability but if you go very low you will rub a lot and you can't drive the car hard.

I would personally want my car to look sporty and have good performance, but to each his own.
