CVT swap in California?

I know this has been discussed numerous times but I'd like to know if there is anyone in the Southern California area that is knowledgable and has successfully swapped a CVT to a 6 speed. I know Way at Way Motor Works has done this numerous times but he is in Georgia!

Any leads would be very helpful

I know an independant (not MINI specific) in Ventura county (Fontanna Motorsports in Simi Valley) who could do it, although hasn't actually done one yet. I consulted him on my Midlands to Getrag swap. I can tell you that it's in not difficult, other than needing to know exactly what parts to have. In my case, I was set back a week because my initial research missed the fact that I'd need longer shift cables. Obviously starting with one less pedal, an incompatible shifter, and hydraulic lines going to the radiator will make your swap more involved. But unless the ECU needs to be updated, I don't really think it's any more difficult.

Ok thanks, I'll have to give them a call. I know all the parts I need, I just need an experienced person to perform this swap. In terms of the ECU, I've heard that it is the more complicated part of the swap. The car basically has to be reprogramed to think it has always been a manual otherwise complications occur.

Anyone else have any suggestions? I'd really appreciate it.
I'm not going to sell the car, it is still in excellent condition, I just need this swap done!

We are actually working on a way for you to send your MINI's computers to us and we reprogram them and send them back. You actually have to program almost everyone of them, not just the DME.

Also if you need the parts week have them from wrecked MINI's.

That would actually make things a lot easier but....I think my best bet might be to send the car over to you...everyone I've spoken to just says to get rid of the car. That is not an option for me. Time to see how much this is going to cost me with shipping and all.
