I got the pulley off finally since I just received the new pulley, and the rubber doesn't look bad at all, but I'm sure it had to be the crank pulley.

Just need another tool tomorrow to put the new pulley on. Everybody says I am crazy for working on my car while its snowing out, but I really don't care about working with snow falling around me.

I pulled my engine and transmission outdoors last January with snow on the ground (although it was quite warm that day). Years ago, I changed a VW clutch in February, outdoors. You do what you have to do.

Didn't know other people worked on cars outdoors in the snow, but like you said got to do what you have to. I could move stuff in my parents garage to get it in, and work on it, but not too much room in their. My cousin has a 2 car garage he said I am welcome to use, but he's about 6 min. away, and the car is in no condition to drive that far, and it would be sitting in his garage for a while. He used to be a mechanic so he probably has the tools I need. I know my grandpa does, but I hate bothering him for tools and things since everybody else in the family does. I bothered him today, but think I will buy the tools I need to put the new pulley on just so I have the tools to do this task again if I ever have to.

Who new replacing a crank pulley would take 2 days? Today I wasted my whole day buying tools to get the new pulley on, but nothing worked since the new pulley didn't have threads. I am slowly learning this stuff. I boiled water, spilled it on the pulley, got gloves on, and put it on the car. I bought a few different size 12mm bolts that thread in the crank pulley, and used the long one so I could get the pulley to move closer to the engine, removed it, and got a shorter one, and kept doing that until the new replacement bolt would thread in. Not sure if my car is different then most people's, but I have no threads for the first half inch or so where the pulley goes on which made this job really tough.

Thanks for the help, and advice guys. Everything is back together, and the car drives like it should. Found out why the tensioner pulley was melted. I bought a new pulley, and put it on, but it was scraping the tensioner so it wasn't spinning. I added a washer behind the pulley so it wouldn't scrape the tensioner, and everything is good. Trying to get the company I bought the tensioner from to pay for the pulley since they wouldn't return it under warranty. They told me the pulley was melted from something else going bad, but everything works fine, and the tensioner was obviously faulty.
