Clicking noise from steering wheel?

My 03 MCS just started making an intermitent clicking noise when turning the steering wheel to the left while driving. It makes it upon return back to normal wheel position too (after you've made the turn). It sounds like it's coming from the column near the wheel. My 95 M3 made similar noises and we had to replace the rack. I just got my R53 and am still new to these cars... Any ideas? It does have quite a few miles

Sounds to me like the steering column is on the way out - I had mine replaced earlier in the year, but I too am having this issue again! You could try oiling the bearing, if you take the housing off the column you'll be able to get to it. I have an 02 cooper, so am guessing its the same procedure in an MCS. Its worth a try as the column can be quite pricey.
